What to do in the event of death
Be wary of anyone who shows up at the scene of death requesting an assignment or indicating a preference. These are unscrupulous people who take advantage of you in times of grief. There are no "on-call agencies" in hospitals or nursing homes.
DEATH IN A REST HOME
For deaths occurring in a private clinic or nursing home, we will contact you to best plan the farewell and final farewell before burial/cremation.
MOURNING IN A PRIVATE HOME
For deaths at home, you must call your doctor, who will certify the death and complete all the necessary documentation to report the death (declaration of death, ISTAT form, and postmortem medical certificate). We always have the necessary forms available.
DEATH IN HOSPITAL
For deaths occurring in a healthcare facility, please contact the Health Directorate, which will provide the necessary documentation to file a death report or deliver it directly to the Municipality. Current regulations in the Lombardy Region do not allow us to meet with you in the hospital wards. We will arrange a meeting with you at a location most convenient for you.
DEATH IN PUBLIC PLACES
This is a very delicate and complex situation involving multiple competent authorities (judicial, health, municipal, and police offices). Our staff will assist you in managing all legal procedures related to the case. If we have the necessary authorizations, we can arrange for the immediate transport of the body from the place of death to the home, the local mortuary, or the appropriate healthcare facility.
DEATH ABROAD
This circumstance may involve Consulates, Embassies, or Prefectures, depending on the country where the death occurred. Contact our staff; we will arrange a meeting at the most convenient location for you. COMPAGNONI can organize the repatriation of your loved one, following all international procedures and regulations.
DRESSING, TOILETRY AND TANATOESTHETICS
Our highly specialized staff can handle the dressing and grooming of your loved one. The treatments offered address three primary objectives: disinfection, preservation, and restoration, to preserve the appearance of the deceased during the time necessary for farewell, while ensuring their aesthetic presentation.
PROCEDURE HANDLING
Upon request from family members, we handle all administrative formalities. To activate all procedures required by current legislation, we require a copy of the deceased's identity document and tax code, as well as those of a family member or acquaintance. We will visit the relevant offices on your behalf to complete the necessary paperwork, such as registering the death, updating the registry, and issuing death certificates.
